by Steve Pineo's The Hound of the Vegrevilles and Other Spine Tingling Instrumentals

The follow up to “Hardwired for the Blues”, “The Hound of the Vegrevilles” is a five song instrumental E.P. I’ve always written instrumentals and had amassed quite a few, so I thought I should put out an instrumental EP which would have popular appeal. It was also an excuse to try my hand at some more string arranging. The style is somewhere between Surf Rock and Spaghetti Western. Once again, we went back to Danny Patton’s garage, a.k.a. Airwaves Studio. I’m joined by the usual cast with an appearance by Revv 52 rehearsal pianist (retired) Trevor Waters. He was the only guy I knew at the time who could handle the 16th notes on the organ on “The Hound of the Vegrevilles” Nice Memphis horn sounds on “Dodge Caravan”, my funky rework of the old Juan Tizol classic. My favourite part about this recording is the artwork, rendered by modern day Toulouse-Lautrec, Buzz Elroy(of course I’m talking about artistic prowess and not stature!).
