A perfectly good friendship

by Steve Pineo

My sophomore recording was a collection of love songs, country swing, string band music and other oddities. This was the first recording project where I had almost complete control. I dictated my arrangement ideas to Mike Lent a week before the recording began, and he provided good veteran advice on harmony and instrument range. I had just become engaged, so there are plenty of love songs. Recorded in Edmonton’s Beta Sound Studios, the album was remixed by Billy Cowsill in the early days of the Co-Dependents. This CD won a 2001 Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Roots Recording and contains my signature song “Canadian Man” which was a hit for Paul Brandt. The happy couple on the front cover are Thom Moon’s grandparents!
